Acrylic paintings, oil and cold wax works on cradled wooden boards, watercolors on Yupo (synthetic art paper) are all favorites of mine. I work intuitively, led by a creative touch of the mysterious universe as I place my brush on canvas, my squeegee on a wooden surface, or spray bottle over Yupo. I especially like to work on large canvasses, using palette knives to spread thick, luscious oil or acrylic paints. These are just a few pieces of my art.
I enjoy watching the flow and ever-changing facets of nature, looking from my writing studio windows and my upstairs deck. In fall and winter, I can see creek and marshland through crowds of trees in our yard. Many of the trees are white oak, red oak, and dogwood, all of which lose their leaves. If I want to view the creek and marsh more closely, I can walk through our woods and onto the ridge overlooking them. The marshland is subject of two of my latest paintings. I am using an older pastel painting to inspire the 40" x 40" painting on my studio wall. I paint standing up, usually working on two or more paintings at a time.
